Chlorination is used to prevent the spread of waterborne infectious diseases from swimming pools. Amer is the Head of the Environment and Earth Sciences Department at Al-Quds University. Amer teaches Environmental Pollution and Prevention, Environmental Chemistry, and Organics in the Environment. As well, Amer is also the coordinator for the Master¿s Program in Environmental Science. He earned his Ph.D. from Clemson University in the US.
