Dolasetron Mesylate is an indole derivative with antiemetic activity. As a selective serotonin receptor antagonist, dolasetron mesylate competitively blocks the action of serotonin at 5HT3 receptors, resulting in suppression of chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. Oral film of dolasetron mesylate quickly disintegrates and dissolves, and can be administered without water, making them particularly suitable for geriatric patients and found faster action. Fast dissolving films (FDFs); have gained popularity not only in breath strips but also in personal care, food drug delivery markets. In this study, dolasetron mesylate fast dissolving films were prepared using polymer HPMC by solvent casting method. The six preliminary batches arranged/prepared to obtained final optimized batch. It was observed that concentration of polymer effects the formation of film and dissolution time of the formulations. F3 formulation is considered as the best according to the obtained results with disintegrating time of 47 sec and complete drug release in 47 min. Percent drug release and disintegration time was taken as responses for study which were found within the accepted ranges.
