More than 3000 species of earthworms have been identified in the world. These creatures are found in almost all parts of the world, among them, the earthworm Eisenia fetida saviny (Lumbricidae) has attracted more than other species the attention of vermicompost producers because of its growth, reproduction and high nutritive power and is known as the most suitable species for vermicompost production. This worm was first found in Europe, Siberia, southern Russia, occupied Palestine and North America.
