The book chronicles the many transformations of Fort Ontario from the time it was built in 1755 up to its present-day status as a New York State Historic Site. Coauthor George A. Reed is a former member of the Fort Ontario Guard and executive director of Friends of History in Fulton, N. Y., Inc. He and his wife, educator and photographer Carol Reed, chose photographs and art from the collection of the Fort Ontario Historic Site, and to these they added some of their own works. The result is a rich pictorial tour that does service to the fort and to history.
