Stefan von Cramon-Taubadel/Iryna Akimova (Herausgeber): Fostering Sustainable Growth in Ukraine. Physica-Verlag, Heidelberg 2002, 326 Seiten, 53,45 Euro.

Seit zehn Jahren ist die Ukraine unabhängig. Seit 1994 unterstützt die Beratergruppe der Deutschen Wirtschaft in Kiew die Regierung mit wirtschaftspolitischen Reformvorschlägen. 1999 heben die Berater gemeinsam mit einigen ranghohen ukrainischen Reformpolitikern das "Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting" aus der Taufe. Wie solide das Institut fachlich arbeitet und wie präzise seine Politikempfehlungen formuliert sind, läßt sich an den Beiträgen in diesem neuen Sammelband gut nachvollziehen. In seiner Analyse der Nachhaltigkeit des wirtschaftlichen Wachstums in der Ukraine kommt Marek Dabrowski zu einem optimistischen Urteil. Mehmet Ögülcü sieht in der Ukraine sogar ein "Wirtschaftswunder im Wartestand". Oleh Havrylyshyn, Bogdan Lissovolik und Mohammad Shadman-Valavi drängen zu weiteren Reformschritten und mahnen zu einer vorauseilenden Übernahme des "acquis communautaire" der Europäischen Union. Eva Thiel vergleicht die Investitionsbedingungen mit Rußland. Igor Eremenko wirbt für eine Senkung der Mindestreservevorschrift und verspricht sich daraus eine Stärkung des Bankgewerbes.
