Autorenporträt
Miguel Valcárcel has been a Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Córdoba, Spain since 1976. His main research interests are analytical nanoscience and nanotechnology, as well as the automatization, miniaturization and quality of (bio)chemical measurement processes. He is the author or coauthor of more than 900 articles indexed in international databases, nine monographs, 10 textbooks, and 20 book chapters. He is the recipient of numerous national scientific awards (e.g. the Solvay Prize of the Spanish Confederation of Enterprises Organization, 2000; the National Award in Chemistry, 2005; the Maimonides Award, 1993) and international awards (e.g. the Enrich Planquette Award of the Austrian Society of Chemistry, 1996; the Robert Boyle Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, 2004; the DACEuChemMS Award, 2015). He has also received an honorary doctorate from the University of Valencia, Spain (2011), and has been a full member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences since 2010. Dr. Ángela I. López-Lorente received her Ph.D. in Chemistry (2013) and M.Sc. in Chemistry (2009) degrees at the University of Córdoba (UCO, Spain), where she is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, working in the field of analytical nanoscience and nanotechnology. She was Humboldt postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry at Ulm University, Germany for two years and has pursued short-term research at the University of Uppsala (Sweden, 2015) and the University of Bari (Italy, 2016). She has authored 25 publications in scientific journals, 7 book chapters and is the co-editor of a book. She received awards for her doctoral thesis from the Spanish Society of Applied Spectroscopy, Andalusian Analytical Chemical Society and Lilly Company as well as an extraordinary PhD prize from UCO and the Spanish National Award on Graduate studies on Chemistry. M. Angeles López-Jimenez was born in Córdoba (Spain) in 1996. She graduated in chemistry in the academic year 2013-2014, achieving high throughout her university career. As a student, she actively participated in science divulgation activities among undergraduate students. Her experience has been crucial in producing a Spanish book that meets the needs of students (ISBN 978-84-9927-273-3). She has given two presentations at Spanish meetings in 2016 (GRASECA Y SEQA in Almeria and Madrid). She had also collaborated as a speaker at two courses on nanotechnology. She is co-author of the e-book "Nanotechnology for all" (ISBN 978-84-9927-284-9), which has been recently published.
