Valentin Ageyev è nato a Murmansk (Russia). Nel 1973 si è laureato presso l'Istituto di Ingegneria Fisica di Mosca. Nel 1987 ha discusso la tesi di laurea in Scienze psicologiche. Nel 2007 ha ottenuto il titolo accademico di professore.
