Davidson, when he was created Viscount Davidson in 1937, as Conservative MP for Hemel Hempstead. Lady Davidson served as Member of Parliament between 1937 and 1959, when she retired. For a short time after the 1945 general election, she was the only female Conservative MP. She was appointed DBE in 1952 and was created a life peer as Baroness Northchurch, of Chiswick in the Countyof Middlesex, in 1963. She and her husband were one of the few couples to both partners hold titles in their own right. She died, aged 91, from natural causes.
