Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser (27 August 1871 - 28 December 1945) was an American novelist and journalist of the naturalist school. He attended Indiana University from 1889 - 1890 without obtaining a degree. Within several years he became a journalist for the Chicago Globe newspaper and then the St. Louis Globe-Democrat.
