Five years ago, invading aliens used disabled earth's technology, then began to harvest humans and animals as biofuel for their ships. Without electronic communications, the armies of earth were fighting deaf and blind, and the aliens decimated the population almost unopposed. Surprisingly, it was the teens who stepped up: skaters and bike couriers, freerunners and punks. They put their lives in the crossfire, running tactical messages for the tattered remnants of the Royal Canadian Armed Forces on the burnt-out streets of Toronto. They became known as Freerunners. Will, a sixteen year old farm kid, wants to be a Freerunner. Five years after the invasion begins, he joins this rowdy group of young thrill-seekers who have an uneasy relationship with the military they assist. But will he be fast enough, and bold enough, to run the alien gauntlet? Can he make it as a Freerunner?
