The lexical fixation is the starting point of this research, which aims at identifying the various semantic uses of idiomatic expressions containing a part of the human body. Through a comparative study of two different languages (French and Algerian Arabic), we have tried to identify the representations related to the human body as well as the cultural limits that are drawn between the two cultures through the use of idiomatic expressions in each of these languages.
