She took part in the First Battle of Groix and in the Battle of Groix. On 22 March 1796, she was captured by a British squadron comprising HMS Indefatigable, HMS Amazon and HMS Concord. She was subsequently recommissioned in the Royal Navy as HMS Virginie.
