What is French poetry? Far from defining it as a poetry made by non-French authors who use French with the introduction of words, expressions, a syntax and a new rhythm inflecting the aesthetic canons of French poetry, Senghor tells us what this poetry should be rather. He considers that this poetry is above all a French poetry made by authors of different temperaments, and various nationalities. It will be a question of showing how he defines this poetry. Our study will try to bring to light the characteristics of this poetry. It wants to be a synthesis of what Senghor said about the francophone poetry. In other words, with regard to Senghor, we will see that this poetry is a highly human poetry.
