Monica Brown ist eine vielfach ausgezeichnete Autorin. In ihren Büchern fokussiert sie sich immer wieder auf latein-amerikanische Geschichten. Sie selbst hat peruanische Wurzeln. Monica Brown unterrichtet Englische Literatur an der Northern Arizona University. Sie lebt mit ihrem Mann und zwei Töchtern in Arizona. John Parra wurde bereits mehrfach als Illustrator und Designer ausgezeichnet. Viele seiner Kinderbücher erhielten namhafte Preise, wie z.B. den SCBWI Golden Kite Award und den Christopher`s Award. 2015 wurde Parra vom Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York eingeladen, seine Arbeiten zu präsentieren. Er lebt mit seiner Frau in Queens, New York.
