It's hardly ever easy to move a teenage child to a new town, much less a new state, when they are in high school. Leaving San Diego was unbearably hard for fifteen-year-old Clara Simmons. She'd grown up on the sandy beaches of sunny southern California, had a fast-paced lifestyle, and life-long friends including a boyfriend named Chet. She soon learned that life is a perpetual cycle of change. Georgia was no California. There were no beaches in the small-town not ten miles southwest of Macon, and the dirt was red! Just when she thought she'd catch a bus and go back to San Diego, her resistance shifted to acceptance. Her neighbor, sixteen-year-old Jeremy Gorman, cast new light on living in the country. Missing the California beaches was no longer an issue-the Gorman family lake would do just find. Their friendship grew into a full romance during the senior Christmas dance. Life would never be the same for the two teenagers from that night on.
