Growing up in Clitheroe, Lancashire, Malcolm Ingham held a passion for wildlife that carried on into adulthood, ultimately leading to him becoming Head Ranger and Wildlife Officer for Wirral Council, where he rescued and rehabilitated wildlife in trouble and worked with police in tackling wildlife crime, as recounted in his first book, From Badgers to Nighthawks . In this time, he worked with the RAF in returning a young nighthawk where it should have been, after it went off route during migration. He also reared orphaned badgers and successfully released them into the wild, as well as giving non-releasable badgers and other wild creatures a sanctuary to live out their lives safely. The time came for Malcolm to retire, and it was thought that life would quieten down, enjoying his new home with his wife Ann in the Welsh countryside, watching the badgers that regularly came into the garden to enjoy a peanut or four. However, fate had other plans in store, and he soon found himself busy assisting the North Wales Police in investigating incidents of badger related crime & acting as prosecution expert witness. His television career also continued, with ITV Wales Coast and Country, Channel 5 Badgers: Their Secret World, and most recently, BBC Springwatch. Following on from his first book, Malcolm also continues to write, with articles for an outdoor magazine, a children's book Tales of Old Billy Badger and this second volume of memoirs, recounting that despite retiring, he is just as busy as ever!
