When Lawrence set out for his out of town doctor's appointment, he set his GPS and expected it to guide him to his doctor's office. What he didn't anticipate was a spiritual journey that could transform his life forever. Stranded in a small town with a broken-down car, Lawrence's unexpected detour led him to an encounter with a faith he had never considered: the Catholic Church. "From Questions to Communion - Discovering Catholicism" is a captivating story of faith, friendship, and the mysterious ways in which God guides our paths. As Lawrence grapples with his car troubles, he finds himself welcomed into a close-knit Catholic community. Here, he meets Father Matt, a wise and compassionate priest, and James, a devout parishioner with a past not unlike Lawrence's own. Through their warmth and unwavering support, Lawrence is introduced to the rich traditions, profound rituals, and deep spirituality of the Catholic faith. What begins as a temporary pit stop soon becomes an immersive exploration of theology, human connection, and the search for meaning in an imperfect world. Father Matt's wisdom and gentle guidance challenge Lawrence to confront his doubts and fears. "Catholics, like all Christians, are imperfect models of Christ in an imperfect world," Father Matt explains. "But as brothers with Christ, we are called to love and support each other on the journey to the promised land." James, with his own story of redemption and grace, becomes a steadfast friend, showing Lawrence that faith is not just about rituals, but about a living, breathing relationship with God and each other. Together, they navigate the highs and lows of spiritual discovery, forging a bond that transcends their differences. "From Questions to Communion - Discovering Catholicism" is more than a tale of conversion; it is a testament to the power of faith to bridge divides, heal wounds, and illuminate our paths. Readers of all backgrounds and beliefs will find themselves drawn into Lawrence's journey, sharing in his moments of doubt, epiphany, and profound joy. This book is a compelling reminder that sometimes, the greatest journeys are the ones we never planned to take. Through the lens of Lawrence's story, readers will see how divine providence can turn even the most mundane of car troubles into the potential for a life-changing encounter with faith, hope, and love. Whether you are a seeker, a believer, or someone simply curious about the transformative power of faith, "From Questions to Communion - Discovering Catholicism" offers an exciting, heartwarming, and deeply spiritual adventure that will resonate long after the final page is turned. Join Lawrence as he discovers that the road to God can be found in the most unexpected places and that every detour has the potential to lead us to our true destination.

Autorenporträt
John is a cradle Catholic, the middle child of five, who grew up in upstate New York. Vatican Two saved him from learning Latin the year he trained to be an Altar Server. He attended Catholic School until High School when he transitioned to public school. He received two associates degrees from the local Community College, then started a job in a fortune 500 company as a draftsman. He had met the woman of his dreams and they had the first of their children 9 months after they were married. Six months later, the three headed off to the State University of New York at Buffalo where John studied Mechanical Engineering. By the time John graduated with his BS in Mechanical Engineering, they had their second son and headed back to his hometown to continue his 40 year career and have a third son and finally his daughter. He and his wife now have a son in law, a daughter in law and six beautiful grandchildren. Several events led him to deepen his faith - joining a Catholic Men's Bible Study; attending several Catholic Men's Conferences; attending a Catholic Men's Emmaus Retreat as well as being on several Emmaus Retreat Teams (including giving witness talks); attending daily Mass; Praying the Holy Rosary daily and being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Church and Nursing Homes in the area. His engineering job brought him across the USA as well as Mexico, Europe and Asia where he enjoyed creating his own personal Pilgrimages to Holy Sites and sharing the experiences and pictures with family and friends. His retirement ambitions include enjoying his children and grandchildren, continued travel to holy sites around the world and sharing his Catholic faith wherever he can.
