The good reception is a guarantee of quality in hospitals and health centres, it gives the patient the impression that he or she is expected, considered and respected. A patient who is well received is half cured. In Africa in general and in Benin in particular, many patients and their families are dissatisfied with the quality of the welcome they receive. This is what motivated the present work, the objective of which is to improve the quality of the reception of patients in the Tota health centre. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted from 18 to 25 August 2015. The technique used is the survey and the tools are the questionnaires and the observation grid, which shows that the nursing staff of the Tota health centre have the necessary knowledge, attitudes and practices for the good reception of patients. However, the organization of work and the available resources do not allow for its implementation. A good reception requires an adequate attitude even if we are overwhelmed by the workload in order to establish a relationship of trust between the carer and the patient. It is then necessary to reorganize working conditions.
