David Wetzel is Lecturer at the University of California Berkeley, USA. He is the author of A Duel of Giants: Bismarck, Napoleon III and the Origins of the Franco-Prussian War (2001) and A Duel of Nations: Germany, France, and the Diplomacy of the War of 1870-1871 (2012), and The Crimean War: A Diplomatic History (1985). He is also the editor of From the Berlin Museum to the Berlin Wall: Essays on the Cultural and Political History of Modern Germany (1996), and International Politics: The Past Informs the Present (1996).
