The dynamics of contemporary society in rural areas have undergone a series of changes compared to the agricultural areas of a few decades ago. In view of this situation, the aim of this work is to analyze the historical process of economic formation in the municipality of Horizontina-RS, looking at the reasons for the decline in the importance of agricultural production as an economic activity, from work to the income of the rural population.
