I was the 101st child born in Uravan, a small town in Colorado. It is no longer in existence, but I am and I carry on the values, beliefs, dreams and American get up and go. I was a teacher in Los Angeles and moved back home to be with my mom, she was having difficulty remembering. I was employed by the local school district and taught for eight years in the elementary school. The community is small and agriculturally based. When I lived in this western town it was an agriculture and uranium mining community, but agriculture, coal mining and a power plant continues to help support the community. Soon our community will not have the coal mine nor the power plant due to government regulations. In these pages it is my hope you will find understanding and inspiration of the hard work it takes to keep America alive and united. I am one individual with hope and dreams, not of one thought or one way but of the liberty to work hard, with dedication to my fellows. Get your hands dirty, be a part of, not just monetarily but with mind, body and spirit. I have always been a slight risk taker and not afraid to try something new. I wrote this book to pass along my experience living in a different culture, the cowboy culture. Entering this new culture, I realized that I needed to understand what they were talking about when either sitting around the table, on a horse or in a truck. The Cowboy has a different language, so I began my little book of cowboy language to assist anyone a preview of The Cowboy's values, beliefs, and way of life. The new vocabulary will be bolded and defined within the chapters.
