The Bay Institute (TBI) is a branch of Bay.Org- a non-profit 501(c )(3) San Francisco-based organization that includes the Smithsonian-affiliated Aquarium of the Bay, the Bay Academy, the EcoCenter at Heron's Head Park, the Bay Model and the Sea Lion Center at PIER 39. As a research and advocacy organization, TBI works to protect and restore the ecosystem of the San Francisco Bay/Delta estuary and its watershed. Since 1981, the Institute's policy and technical staff have led programs to protect water quality and endangered species, reform state and federal water management, and promote comprehensive ecological restoration in the Bay/Delta region.
