The composition of this book was inspired by the unconditional love and spiritual guidance of my mother. It is predicated on ten years of experience conducting domestic-violence groups for court-ordered male perpetrators. I was trained in the Duluth, Minnesota, model for treating perpetrators of domestic violence. Domestic violence is about power and control over an individual disguised as love. It has no respect for age, gender, race, or profession. It has disastrous effects on society, individuals, and their families.
