Olivier Hekster is Professor in Ancient History at the Radboud University Nijmegen. He is chairman of the international network Impact of Empire. His publications include Crises and the Roman Empire (2007) and Cultural Messages in the Graeco-Roman World (2010). Ted Kaizer is Senior Lecturer in Roman Culture and History at Durham University. His publications include The Variety of Local Religious Life in the Near East (2008) and Kingdoms and Principalities in the Roman Near East (2010).
