Jake is young, and his life seems boring. Phaedrus is old, and his life seems empty. Phaedrus seems to think that a nightmare is about to happen. Jake just wants to go on dreaming. Does Phaedrus really know something? Or is he just a broken old man? Jake must choose. If Phaedrus is right, then Jake's life is going to change, and Jake will have to rethink everything he ever knew.

David Dalton has worked for the San Francisco Examiner and the San Francisco Chronicle. He has now retreated to a small farm in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where he also is involved in environmental activism and local politics. Dalton's forthcoming memoir will involve 40 years of gay history, for which he had a front-row seat and lived a life that brought him into intimate contact with some of the most important gay writers and thinkers of the last 40 years.
