Education is a right for all, mentioned in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in its Article XXVI. African governments must not only promote formal education, but also functional literacy to enable all social classes to enjoy this right. It must be noted that the education of Fulani herders is faced with difficulties linked not only to their mobility with the herds but also to the transfer of technical and professional skills between the Fulfulde and French languages. Indeed, Fulani pastoralists are beneficiaries of literacy or development programmes. But the conduct of teaching/learning of the said programmes encounters many difficulties. All these difficulties can be explained by the lack of bilingual terminology on pastoralism. It is for this reason that we have given ourselves the task of responding to the expectations of this public through research into the terminology of Fulfulde-French pastoralism.
