This work has made an attempt to evaluate the functioning of VHND in a rural district of Orissa, India. Many of the important issues have come up during the evaluation and recommendations for the same have been incorporated in the dissertation.

Dr. Sandeep Kumar Panigrahi, M.B.B.S., M.D. graduated from VSS Medical College, Burla in the year 2005. He has completed his M.D. in Community Medicine(PSM) from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar in 2011. He has worked a lot in many projects and has vast experience in research work. Presently he is working for UNICEF as State Program Coordinator-IMNCI.
