Chapter four introduces and discusses comparison of alternatives from the following considerations: discount rate, present worth method, annual cost, and rate of return.Chapter five handles the benefit cost analysis from the viewpoint of identification of relevant benefits and costs, measurement of benefits and costs, selection of best alternative, and treatment of uncertainty. Chapter six is the conclusions of this textbook which summarizes the important points in engineering economics.

Dr. Osama Mohammed Elmardi Suleiman Khayal was born in Atbara, Sudan in 1966. He received a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Sudan University of science and technology in 1998, and a master degree in solid mechanics from Nile valley university (Atbara, Sudan) in 2003; He also received his PhD degree in mechanics of materials in 2017.
