Horticulture crop production has been expanding worldwide. Asian countries like China and India have emerged as the global leader countries in fruit and vegetable production with share of 34 percent and 10 percent. India occupies the first position in production of many fruit like mango, banana, pomegranate, sapota and aonla and the second position in production of vegetable like brinjal,cabbage,cauliflower, peas,onion and tomato etc. on the other hand, India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of spices and spice products in the world and produces more than 50 percent. In plantation crops also coconut, tea, coffee and cashew assume greater importance. In floriculture, India has been making rapid strides in the last two decades.
