In recent years, the demand and search for results with a high aesthetic standard has increased on the part of patients. Consequently, a new kind of adhesive restorative dentistry has been developed, driving the technological development of increasingly aesthetic materials. Given the aesthetic evolution of materials, combined with the mechanical properties responsible for the functional success of the restorative procedure, the optical properties are important for the result to be achieved, while these also depend on the technical skills of the professional. Therefore, the ideal restorative material is one that emits light at the same intensity as natural dentition, although factors such as chemical agents, immersion media and surface polishing can influence the final result of a restorative procedure.
