The present study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the offensive systems against the defensive systems implemented by the senior male and female handball teams participating in the national championship of Mozambique, 2014 edition, held in Beira City, Sofala Province. The data collection was carried out from 14 to 21 December, at the Pavilhão dos Desportos, where 11 teams participated being 6 male and 5 female. For data collection an observation form was used, previously adapted by Graziano (1990). The main results found were the following: i) for both the male and female groups, the offensive system 3:3 was considered the most effective against the offensive system 6:0, with a percentage of 33.6% for the first and 57.04% for the second group, respectively and; ii) regarding the defensive systems, the systems 3:3 and 4:2 were the most effective against the offensive systems 3:3 and 4:2, for both groups.
