Air Marshal (Dr) Diptendu Choudhury, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM (Retd) is a third-generation Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot with over 5,000 sorties on frontline fighter jets. His career highlights include commanding a fighter squadron, two major fighter bases, and the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment, the IAF's equivalent of the TOPGUN School. He led the IAF in joint exercises with the United States, France, and the United Arab Emirates and contributed to air warfare and joint operations as Air Defence Commander and head of the Composite Battle Response and Analysis Group. At Air Headquarters, he served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Inspections) and Senior Air Staff Officer of Western Air Command, later concluding his career as Commandant of the National Defence College. Academically accomplished, he holds advanced degrees from King's College London and continues to contribute to academia, focusing on air power and national security, as a Distinguished Fellow at leading institutions.
