In this work, by relying on a socio-historical approach, we aim to identify the process of institutionalization of the first Gabonese television channel on the one hand and to analyze the statutory framework that presided over its operation from 1963 to 1990 on the other hand. We analyze here, in this precise lapse of time, the positioning of this instrument in the communication of the State and that of the political actors. By agreeing with the two political regimes recorded during this time (multipartism and monopartism), we thus try to locate the public media in general and the public television in particular between two functional ideologies: public instrumentation and ideological apparatus of State.
