As a result of bioprospecting conducted in fragments of Atlantic Forest, in Arraial d'Ajuda, Porto Seguro, Bahia, Brazil, we present the rare native fruiting forest species in the process of extinction, Garcinia gardneriana, popularly known as bacupari. With strong potential in several fields: phytotherapeutic, pharmacological, edible, cosmetic, among others. In special, phytochemical compounds present in the fruits, leaves and seeds, as the 7-epiclusionone, antibiotic of last generation and others of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Among the axes of the pilot project: ideal method to break seed dormancy, seedlings in nursery until the planting in full sun, in APL (Local Productive Arrangement) format, among family farmers and indigenous communities.It also presents the final product of the research the bacupari almond flour, the basis for various applications, especially functional food, for its high nutritional content and delicious flavor.
