Useful materials designed for energy-related applications are in high demand. Porous organic materials have been used in carbon dioxide capture and storage. Such materials can pave the way for smarter and cleaner energy harnessing. The aim is to highlight the physical and chemical characteristics of porous organic materials as well as their gas adsorption properties and storage capacities. In addition, the self-assembly synthesis of these porous organic materials and their implementation prospects are discussed.
