This short book discusses gay issues in relation to God, the church, and the Bible. The author cites several studies about homosexuality and genetics and discusses biblical interpretation and gay discrimination. Religion influences society and its laws, as well as what is taught to children in schools. The author challenges religious organizations, government, and schools to promote education that respects all as children of God. As witnessed in God's creation of diversity in nature and in individuals, it is time to accept and respect LGBTQ people as part of God's world.

Autorenporträt
Sherry Hope, a retired educator, holds a Master's degree in education. During her 36-year career, she taught and coached students in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as serving as a department head and athletic director. She believes that education is important as society changes, adjusts, and evolves.Sherry grew up in southern Virginia in a time when religion was strong and homosexuality was not recognized or discussed. During those years, she frequently felt that she was the only woman who felt an attraction to another woman. Since such issues were not widely known, she began a lifelong journey of exploration and relationships that formed who she became. From a young age, Sherry knew that being gay was not wrong. Her family taught her Christian values. Her great-grandfather was a minister in a Christian church. Her parents were teachers and education administrators who had high standards. Given this family background, she studied the Bible carefully, particularly translations of passages that discuss homosexuality. She has published several articles on the subject. Sherry had to maneuver her life between what was acceptable and what had to be kept hidden. She experienced rejection from friends who could not accept her sexuality. She had to hide who she was during most of her teaching career for fear of being exposed as gay and fired. She had to pretend that she was like everyone else.Sherry has written this book to help others realize that being gay is not wrong and that it does not mean one can not be a Christian. She wants everyone to know that being gay is just having one of various traits that God created people to be. She wants everyone to know that one can be gay and be a Christian.
