Ollie Marshall-Rico is the seventh of sixteen children, a native of Springfield, Arkansas., from the community of Union Chapel. She resides in Orange, New Jersey with her husband, (Luis). She is a retired Newark Public System educator and a former VISTA Volunteer. As a VISTA Volunteer, with other VISTA Volunteers, she played a significant role to help create the first Rent Control Bill in the City of Newark; she is a life member of the NAACP, a community activist and an active member of a church where she practices Christlike behavioral throughout the community. Ollie speaks through her poetry.Ollie received a BA in Sociology from Northridge State University, Northridge, California, Secondary Certification in Social Studies from Montclair State University through the State of New Jersey; Certificate in Preschool, and Certification in Special Education, Kindergarten through 12th grade from Kean College State University, Union, New Jersey.Ollie Marshall-Rico has published several books: The ABC Character Builder, Fire in My Bones, Commander-in -Chief (The 44th President), Sprouts of The Spirits, Surviving the Stain of Losing My First Love, Equality, Inequality, Or What?, Searching-Genealogy-Searching...Phase 1, and Gaza Children Graveyard (Book 1).
