This booklet contains a study that investigated the factors perceived to be constraints to headship of secondary schools. This are as; Women's ability to lead, professional qualifications and training, age, experience, societal attitude towards female headship and marital status. Another factor looked at that militates against female leadership in secondary schools include underrepresented of women in positions of head of departments and deputy heads which are stepping stones to headship and females' reluctance to apply for headship. Further, women are perceived to be emotional and poor in decision making. The book also tells why males are preferred in the same. They receive support and co-operation from staff, something that female heads lack, ending up being demoralized. The book recommends that the community sensitization and gender awareness needs to be encouraged. This will change the community's attitude towards female headship. Appointment to the same should also be based on training and academic.
