Context decides the role of interlocutors' utterances. Its not gender, it is the the context; in intercultural and intra-cultural pragmatics. Role of speech input varies for individuals. One individual can be authoritative and submissive at the same time; settings decide the role of how much input would be given. Theories which label female speech only as gossip and men to be practical are cause of gender biased opinions towards speech of different genders. Theories should be neutral and should be devoid of any biases.
