This work proposed to investigate the relationships between the gender roles of primary school teachers and teachers and whether being a woman or a man in the exercise of teaching can have implications for pedagogical practices, specifically in terms of working with gender and sexuality issues. Using the comparative study methodology, an analysis was made of the statements of four female teachers and teachers of public schools in the State of Goiás, where it was possible to verify the similarities and differences in the performance of women and men in this context. It is perceived that there is insufficiency of formation on gender and sexuality in the current graduations. The research managed to present notorious differences in the performance of women and men, prevailing more social questions linked to the construction of gender roles, having the teacher - even if in a quantitative minority in Elementary School - possessing greater respect, however, the teacher would have greater flexibility in approaching varied themes, the students demonstrate greater comfort in the discussions and pedagogical practices with the themes of gender and sexuality with the teacher.
