El Dr. Gallagher ha trabajado en justicia penal en Escocia desde 1993, incluyendo trabajo de campo, libertad condicional intensiva y planificación estratégica de justicia penal. Luego se embarcó en una investigación de doctorado y posteriormente se sentó en la Junta de Libertad Condicional de Escocia. Actualmente está empleada en una función de protección pública en Lothian and Borders Police, Escocia.
