This book details digital watermarking with emphasis on digital chaos-based techniques. Watermark generation is the process of generating a mark which is used in the embedding process, with this mark being placed within an image to provide protection at a later stage. Detection is the process of determining, if, at a later stage, this possibly attacked image contains an embedded watermark. The majority of detection schemes proposed to date use a correlation-based technique, which, has been found to have satisfactory performance. Chaos theory is concerned with determining if it is possible to make accurate long-term predictions about the behaviour of some physical system. The uncertainty associated with chaotic systems may be used in digital watermarking for the purpose of watermark generation. This book presents the use of chaotic functions for watermark generation and provides a comparative study between common pseudorandom watermark sequences and chaotic watermark sequences fortheir use in watermarking systems.
