The current study primarily aims at investigating the way Yezidi sacred literature is classified and the metre and rhythm which are used in different religious texts. Additionally, it is to show all the literary aspects in the different texts which are analysed according to Finnegan's and other scholars of oral tradition and folklore theories that follow different criteria in classifying traditional literature into different types. Some of religious people and knowledgeable persons' perspectives have been taken into consideration of the way these texts are categorised to know their views about the way of classifying such texts. The methodology that has been utilised in this research study is formal and thematic analysis side by side with Yezidi emic traditions of classification. Religious texts have been analysed side by side with the usage of the semi-structured interviews. Abrahams, Finnegan and Bauman theories have been used to analyse different poetic genres of the Yezidi religious literature.

Ali Chooqee Eedo: a Lecturer in University of Duhok, Finished his Master degree in Kurdish Studies from University of Exeter-UK 2013, and Bachelor degree in Kurdish Language and Literature from University of Duhok- Kurdistan Region of Iraq 2008. He works in the field of Kurdish Studies particularly in Kurdish literature.
