Generic pronouns are usually perceived as common-gender pronouns, epicene pronouns, and gender-neutral pronouns. Some authors and linguists alike referred to these pronouns as the pronouns that referred to a person who may be female as well as male. Some other thought generic pronouns as referents that exclude or marginalize women which in turn lead to the appearance of new neologisms such as s/he, han, and he/she. As an essential topic of concern in the study of language which is worthy investigated, the present book is intended to contrast the Bible and the Glorious Quran as far as these pronouns are concerned to find out if they share some of these generic pronouns or are different. This pronoun is explored by contrasting the English and the Arabic one basing on the Glorious Quran and the Holy Bible.

Faris Kadhim Alatabi (born in 1980) is an Iraqi professor of ELT at the Department of English, University of Wasit /College of Education for Humanities, Iraq. Fatima Mohammed Madhlum (born in 1986) is an Iraqi teacher. She obtained her B.A. in 2013. In 2021, she has got M.A. degree in Linguistics (contrastive analysis) at Wasit University.
