This book presents varietal breeding approaches for dry cereals including rice and perennial crops including oil palm. It highlights the scientific methodology for phenotypic breeding resulting from the interaction between the genotype (G) and the environment (E). The stresses discussed in this book are abiotic and biotic stress. Indeed, climate change significantly reduces the yield and productivity of agricultural operations. This situation does not allow producers to make their farms profitable for the improvement of their living conditions. In order to influence the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, varietal breeding becomes an essential approach to cope with the adverse effects of climate change. This breeding will lead to obtaining climate-smart varieties for agricultural transformation.
