Molecular markers serve as the best assisting tool for identification of the desired type of plant from the huge diversity available. DNA based markers are more reliable and used for crop improvement. Efficient management of genetic resources whether for conservation or utilization in plant breeding programmes, requires accurate and fast assessment of levels of genetic diversity and degree of genetic relatedness. The RAPD have proven to be rapid, simple and inexpensive way to assess genetic diversity, identify closely related cultivars and to study evolutionary processes.
