Genetic engineering of plants will have a profound impact on the future of agriculture, and modern plant genetic engineering involves the transfer of the desired genes into the plant genome, and the regeneration of whole plants from the transformed tissue. The development of plant regeneration and transformation technique in Eggplant (Brinjal) provides the opportunity to transfer new specific traits of interest into valuable genotypes. The present work summarizes efforts to improve eggplant genetics with an emphasis on the use of biotechnology to introduce genes from other species into cultivated eggplant, and was aimed at the isolation of Hal1 gene from Yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and transform it into Eggplant for salt tolerance. This book contains efficient result-oriented transformation and molecular biology protocols that would enable researchers involved in gene regulation studies, especially those related to plants, with advantages over other methodologies. From this perspective, scientists, academicians and research students would be benefitted by the scientific contents of this book and thus enable them to study different aspects of Plant Molecular Biology.
