A line x tester analysis was carried-out by using six lines and 11 testers and their resulting 66 hybrids of pearl millet in order to estimate heterosis, combining ability and nature of gene action involved in the inheritance of grain yield and its components. The experiment was conducted in a Randomized Block Design with three replications at the Main Oilseeds Research Station, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during summer- 2013. Significant results were found for heterosis, combining ability and gene action for various characters. Heterotic crosses can be further used in the crop improvement programme. Many parents used in crossing programme showed good general combining ability which can be further used for obtaining desirable crosses.
