Genetics has evolved as a science which integrates various branches of science and technology. It has enormous scope in welfare of man to detect and treat various diseases. The recent publication of the architecture of the human genome and its implication for understanding both human biology and disease susceptibility raises the question of how such knowledge both currently influences and ultimately will change our approach to the management of periodontal disease. Though clear cut role of genetic basis of the periodontal disease is proved, there is still ambiguity in utilizing the knowledge and practicality of growing research in this field. This book covers the basics of genetics, its role in periodontal diseases and future scope in this field.
