The smart water injection has become one of the promising topics in the oil industry. It is believed that the main mechanism for incremental oil recovery in low salinity flooding is wettability alteration. In this book, smart water alternative gas injection as a hybrid method of smart water injection is meticulously investigated. For this purpose, different EOR methods such as gas injection, water injection and conventional WAG was simulated and the results were compared with the smart and hybrid methods. The results show that wettability alteration through smart water injection has an effective impact on oil recovery. The mechanism of wettability alteration suggests that the potential determining ions viz. Ca2+, Mg2+ and SO42- are capable of influencing the surface charge of water wet spots on carbonate surfaces.
